Using Your Backpack

Equip

  1. Craft or obtain a backpack
  2. Open accessories: /baubles or /b
  3. Place the backpack in the Back slot

The backpack appears as a 3D model on your character. You can equip elytra in the same slot when not using a backpack.

Open inventory

Double-sneak while hotbar slot 9 is selected.

You do not need a command for day-to-day use.

Upgrade slots

Higher-tier backpacks have more upgrade slots inside the GUI. Drag crafted upgrades into those slots to activate them.

See Upgrades for what works on this server.

Dyeing (leather tier and dyed variants)

Inside the backpack interface:

Action How
Apply color Drop any dye on the dye button
Remove color Use a water bucket on the dye button

The model on your back updates immediately.

Mob loot

Zombies and skeletons sometimes wear backpacks. Defeat them for a chance at a leather, copper, or iron backpack (0.2% drop rate). Gold-tier mob drops are disabled on this server.

Storage limits

These items cannot be placed inside backpack storage:

  • Shulker boxes (all colors)
  • Bundles (all colors, including plain bundle)
  • Barrels

Backpacks also cannot be stored inside other backpacks — the plugin blocks that with an in-game message.

Stack size upgrades are disabled on Realm Striders MC — normal Minecraft stack limits apply.

Ender chest limit

You may store up to 3 backpacks in your ender chest (any tier or dyed variant).

  • A 4th backpack cannot be added by click, shift-click, or drag.
  • You can still rearrange backpacks already inside your ender chest.
  • If you already have more than 3 stored before this rule, you may keep them until you remove some — you cannot add more until you are at 3 or fewer.

Death and equipped backpacks

With default server rules (keepInventory off, CuriosPaper keep-curio-inventory: Auto):

  • Your equipped backpack (Back slot) should drop as an item when you die, with its contents saved on that item.
  • You should not respawn with a duplicate copy in the Back slot unless a staff event uses keepInventory true.

If you see doubled items after death, report to staff immediately.
